our new lonely flower pot...wishing it had soil and flowers in it! once april hits we plan to *attempt* to grow a variety of herbs and maybe even some veggies on our porch...we'll see how our green thumb does...

first visitors

this past week mike and i had our first visitors: my mother, my sisters reghann and stephanie, and my nephew william. the weather was wonderful for them with the exception of one rainy day, and we hit up the beach as much as we could. while mike was at work we went antique shopping 'til we dropped, i showed them around the surrounding quaint towns with accompanying historical facts, i gave them a tour of base, and we visited a maritime museum in beaufort. there is an alligator that lives in the pond in our neighborhood that reghann and steph swore they spotted, there is a river in town where we fed turtles, and when mike got home we all chatted with him. it was such a relaxing time and so good to see them again!

here is a glimpse into our new home! technically it is the second place we've lived in since we've been out here in nc, but this one is our 'permanent' home. it fits us perfectly!

we still have some furnishing left to do, but it has been so fun to decorate and settle in, making it our own FIRST home together! the neighborhood is wonderful and is in such an ideal location. mike and i live on an island - emerald isle, only 4 short blocks away from the ocean. we also have sound access, which is convenient and a nice, relaxing change if we don't want to immerse ourselves with the hustle and bustle of the oceanside beaches. it really has been so exciting to have the opportunity to live out here. we have seen some of the most breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that really make you cherish life and respect nature and mother earth. emerald isle is also a bird and sea turtle sanctuary so we are thrilled to be able to catch daily glimpses of pelicans and soon witness baby sea turtles hatching on the beach.

jumping on the bandwagon

after our recent move to north carolina along with being newlyweds, we decided we should create a way for family and friends to follow our new adventures. thus, we are jumping onto the lafrance family bandwagon and starting a blogspot of our own. we are new to this whole blogging thing, though, so bear with us in the beginning! :)
